Drôle de nuit pour Virgile, dont les parents travaillent dans le cinéma. Le petit garçon se réveille dans une maison envahie par des monstres bizarres: l'un est poilu avec un long cou, l'autre possède un œil énorme... Courageusement, Virgile traverse le décor familier de sa vie soudain transformé en terrain d'aventures. Il fait sombre, tout l'effraie mais au loin, là-bas, il aperçoit de la lumière. La traversée de Virgile est l'occasion de faire connaître aux enfants les différents métiers du cinéma, ses instruments, ses coulisses.
