1925, le tournage de Métropolis débute. Le casting a sélectionné nombre de personnes sans aucune expérience du cinéma, comme Brigitte Helm, 19 ans, et l'exigence du réalisateur en a fait une épreuve très éprouvante pour les acteurs... Mais surtout, de par l'époque et le contexte où il est tourné, ce film annonce l'arrivée des totalitarismes qui vont ravager l'Europe et le monde quelques années plus tard.
