Riches d'anecdotes sur la fabrication de ses films, ces entretiens nous renseignent aussi sur ses méthodes de travail, ses rapports avec ses acteurs, dont on retient surtout Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Lee van Cleef, Henry Fonda, Claudia Cardinale, Robert de Niro.
