Incontournable figure des productions de genre, entre autres le giallo, le thriller et l'horreur, Dario Argento est né à Rome en 1940. Il a réalisé dix-huit longs métrages, dont L'Oiseau au plumage de cristal (1970), Profondo rosso (1975), Suspiria (1977), Phenomena (1985), Dracula 3D (2012). Critique de cinéma à ses débuts, très tôt scénariste, il est un formaliste et un technicien majeur du cinéma.
