Synopsis
Les Indes en 1880. Les anciens sergents de l'armée britannique Daniel Dravot et Peachy Carnehan partent pour la mystérieuse province du Kafiristan, où aucun homme blanc ne s'est aventuré depuis Alexandre le Grand, afin d'en devenir les souverains. Après un périple dans des contrées inhospitalières, les deux amis atteignent la Terre promise. Ils conquièrent et unifient les peuplades locales. Au cours des combats, Daniel est touché d'une flèche, miraculeusement arrêtée par sa cartouchière. Mais aux yeux du peuple, il passe pour un Dieu. Daniel va connaître les affres de la déification...
