Art familial, populaire, le cinéma joue un rôle dans la vie du Maroc à l'heure du Protectorat français. A Fez, la capitale du Nord, en Ville Nouvelle, mais aussi à Fès Jdid, dans le Mellah, en Médina, il règne. Star, Apollo, Régent / Lux, Bijou, Empire, Rex, Vox / Astor, Arc-en-Ciel, sans oublier le Paris en plein air : ces noms revinrent en mémoire à ceux qui, tel Camille Grouix, vécurent leur jeunesse à Fès. Textes et images, ces pages restituent l'atmosphère d'un temps où le cinéma, français, américain, était à son acmé.
Pierre Grouix écrit Fès, où son père est né. Rachid Haloui, né à Fès, y est architecte.
