Adaptation scénarisée d'un texte d'A. Paraillous qui lui-même s'inspire d'un court extrait des Mémoires d'outre-tombe de F. R. de Chateaubriand. Il raconte le dernier amour de l'écrivain avec une jeune femme de l'aristocratie toulousaine qu'il surnomme dans ses écrits l'Occitanienne. Le film constitue un huis clos entre l'écrivain, Léontine de Villeneuve et un maître d'hôtel.
