En juin 1944, dans le Sud-Ouest de la France, un jeune paysan de dix-huit ans va successivement partager la vie d'une bande d'auxiliaires français de la Gestapo et ensuite la bizarre vie de famille d'un tailleur juif parisien. Plus qu'un tableau de la France sœur l'Occupation, c'est l'histoire d'une jeune garçon qui, avec son amoralité candide et son appétit de vivre, ignorant toute idéologie, pourrait être un jeune homme d'aujourd'hui.
