Octobre 1940. Un producteur allemand, Alfred Greven, crée dans Paris occupé une société de production cinématographique, la Continental Films, où il enrôle les plus célèbres vedettes (Danielle Darrieux, Fernandel, Raimu, Harry Baur) et des cinéastes de renom (Marcel Carné, Maurice Tourneur, Henri Decoin, Henri-Georges Clouzot).
Durant les quatre années d'Occupation, la Continental produit trente films, dont certains chefs d'œuvre, comme Les Inconnus dans la maison et Le Corbeau.
Pour la première fois, l'histoire de cette société de production, de son fondateur et de celles et ceux qui y ont travaillé est racontée de l'intérieur, grâce à des archives allemandes et françaises inédites. On verra sous un éclairage nouveau le climat délétère au sein de la Continental, le voyage des artistes à Berlin en mars 1942, ainsi que la mort mystérieuse d'Harry Baur.
