Film à la genèse contrariée et à la production semée d'embûches, Alien 3 n'est pas seulement célèbre pour être le troisième volet d'une saga légendaire, mais aussi pour être le tout premier long-métrage d'un cinéaste du nom de David Fincher. Pour le jeune réalisateur ayant fait ses armes du côté de la publicité et du clip, le baptême du feu virera bientôt au cauchemar... au point qu'il déclarera plus tard avoir failli déserter définitivement Hollywood. Artiste à la vision précise et affirmée, Fincher devra composer avec impossibles revirements de scénarios et les ingérences des exécutifs des studios, toujours prêts à empiéter sur sa vision. Une expérience apocalyptique pour le futur réalisateur de Seven, aujourd'hui gravée dans la légende hollywoodienne et racontée ici dans ses moindres secrets...
