Book Presentation:
Un parcours hors du commun qui va nous mener du Japon d'après-guerre jusqu'en 2001 et la sortie du film Metropolis. Un parcours fait de rencontres, d'opportunités, de soirées interminables, de jazz, de cigarettes, mais surtout de cinéma. Une passion qui lui a été transmise par son père et qui lui donnera très tôt l'envie de devenir réalisateur. Et c'est le cinéma d'animation qui lui offrira cette opportunité. Autre figure incontournable de ce parcours, celle d'Osamu Tezuka auprès duquel il va travailler des années, notamment sur la première série d'animation : Astro. Puis Rintaro prendra son envol et se verra confier la réalisation d'autres œuvres auxquelles il apportera sa créativité et qui deviendront des réalisations clés de l'histoire de l'animation japonaise : Le Serpent blanc, Sabu et Ichi, Capitaine Albator, Galaxy Express 999, etc. Si le cinéma d'animation japonais est devenu une référence mondiale, c'est en bonne partie grâce à lui.
