De Laura (1944) à Rivière sans retour (1955) puis à Exodus (1960), du Cardinal (1963) à The Human Factor (1979), magnifique dernier film, Otto Preminger n'a cessé d'évoluer. Le Preminger défendu par Jacques Rivette, Jean-Louis Noames ou Serge Daney au présent, dans les années 1950 et les années 1960, n'est pas le même que celui relu aujourd'hui, période après période, par Olivier Eyquem, Chris Fujiwara, Christoph Huber, Pierre Léon, Miguel Marias et Mathieu Macheret. Cet ouvrage rend hommage à l'une des œuvres capitales du cinéma hollywoodien. Il en célèbre aussi la plasticité et l'évolution, c est-à-dire l'actualité.
About the authors:
Chris Fujiwara est le directeur artistique du Festival International du Film d'Edimbourg. Il a publié Jerry Lewis (University Illinois Press) et The Word and its Double: The Life and Work of Otto Preminger (Faber & Faber). Christoph Huber est critique cinématographique et musical pour le quotidien autrichien Die Presse. Il est aussi le correspondant européen de la revue canadienne Cinema Scope. Il a contribué à plusieurs publications et ouvrages collectifs. Pierre Léon est né en 1959 à Moscou, cinéaste, acteur, critique. Gaël Lépingle collabore régulièrement à la revue Vertigo. Il a réalisé différents films documentaires dont Guy Gifles et le temps désaccordé (2008) et Julien (2010).
