Même s’il ne fume pas le cigare, Laurent Sagalovitsch s’est glissé dans la peau de Jean-Luc Godard pour... raconter l’édition 2024 de Roland-Garros. Passionné de tennis, le cinéaste avait toujours rêvé de filmer le tournoi, selon un principe bien à lui, mais le projet ne vit jamais le jour. Sagalovitsch le reprend, à sa manière, et use de sa plume à la place d’une caméra. Son récit, romancé, emprunte mille chemins de traverse comme l’aurait sans doute été le film du réalisateur. Un texte plein d’humour et d’amour pour le tennis, à mi-chemin entre les Cahiers du Cinéma et Tennis Magazine. Et bien plus accessible, rassurez-vous, que certains films de JLG !

Né en 1967, Laurent Sagalovitsch vit à Paris après quinze années passées à Vancouver (Canada). Il tient régulièrement chronique sur Slate après avoir écrit pour Libération et les Inrocks. Joue-la comme Godard est son neuvième livre après, notamment, Le temps des orphelins ou Le dernier été de Gustav Mahler.
