La trajectoire du cinéaste Alain Guiraudie (Ce vieux rêve qui bouge en 2001, L’Inconnu du Lac en 2013, Miséricorde en 2024...) au sein du cinéma français contemporain procède à la fois d’une claire et résolue détermination, d’un projet de cinéma d’une grande cohérence, perceptible dès ses premiers films, et d’un goût assumé pour la déviation, la variation, l’hétérogène, engendrant autant d’écarts et de féconds détours depuis et autour de cette ligne directrice. Ainsi, chaque film de Guiraudie semble faire, par rapport au précédent, un pas en avant tout autant qu’un pas de côté.
