« Tout le monde connaît ma gueule, mais personne ne connaît mon nom », se lamentait Lee Marvin. Second couteau d’Hollywood, il a traîné sa trogne cabossée dans quantité de films, jusqu’à devenir une star dans des classiques comme L’Homme qui tua Liberty Valance, Le Point de non-retour et Les Douze Salopards. Il a joué à égalité avec Paul Newman, Richard Burton ou Toshirō Mifune, et a même été récompensé d’un oscar. Lee Marvin est devenu une icône au point d’inspirer les traits d’un personnage de la célèbre BD XIII. Mais ce n’était cependant jamais assez pour ce vétéran de la guerre du Pacifique traumatisé par les combats. Raconter cette vie de sexe, d’alcool et de rock’n’roll, c’est retracer la trajectoire haute en couleur d’un géant aux pieds d’argile.
