Colour on screen is still a field of research in which there are more questions than answers. Thus the history of the beginnings of colour in film makes the ensuing discussions which are devoted to specific films engage into a form of dialogue across genres and film aesthetics, while bearing in mind the close links between sound and colour - as in music, as well as those between film, painting and photography.
