Dans ce récit intimiste et bouleversant, Marina Vlady raconte la sortie du coma de son fils aîné, victime d'un accident de la circulation. Pendant des semaines elle va aller de chez elle à la chambre d'hôpital où il gît inconscient. Chez elle, elle suffoque de désespoir ; à son chevet, elle parle, elle raconte, elle chante, scrutant le plus infime signe de retour à la conscience.
