Au fil de cette première biographie illustrée de Johnny Depp, se révèle la carrière atypique d'un homme attachant et rebelle, complexe et charismatique. Enfant terrible rêvant d'être rock star, il devient l'alter ego de Tim Burton, choisit sans compromis de défendre des films underground, comme Dead Man de Jim Jarmusch, mais sait également galvaniser par son exubérance de grosses productions telles que Pirates des Caraïbes. Aujourd'hui, avec Vanessa Paradis et leurs deux enfants, il trouve enfin la vie familiale dont il a toujours rêvé, les tumultes sentimentaux d'hier sont derrière lui, et il peut ainsi assumer en toute sérénité les choix hédonistes et décalés qui ont rendu son parcours hollywoodien si singulier.
