A 84 ans, Ingmar Bergman prépare une suite à son chef-d'œuvre de 1973, Scènes de la vie conjugale . Filmé pour la télévision, Sarabande devrait sortir sur grand écran en France à l’automne 2003. En 1973, Ingmar Bergman fait appel à trois de ses acteurs fétiches, Erland Josephson, Liv Ullmann et Bibi Andersson, pour tourner un téléfilm en six épisodes. Ces Scènes douces-amères seront ensuite fondues en un seul film de 155 minutes destiné au grand écran. Dans Sarabande, Liv Ullmann et Erland Josephson reprennent leurs rôles d'il y a trente ans, ceux de Marianne et Johan, avec à leurs côtés une jeune actrice de 27 ans, Julia Dufvenius.
