Book Presentation:
Synopsis : Varsovie 1939. Entre deux représentations d'Hamlet, une troupe répète une pièce anti-nazie. Mais la guerre éclate et la Pologne est envahie. Comédie de haut vol sur un sujet grave, tournée alors qu'Hitler mettait l'Europe à feu et à sang et que l'issue de la guerre était encore incertaine. Lubitsch ridiculise le Führer et les nazis. Il emploie à cet effet une manière d'une dérision comique époustouflante pour l'époque, multipliant les scènes à double sens.
Pour aider la résistance à neutraliser un espion, les acteurs se font passer pour la Gestapo. Les vrais nazis entrent en scène...
