Book Presentation:
Pour couronner Bazin, les Cahiers du Cinéma dont il fut l'un des piliers, lui ont consacré un numéro spécial, au même titre qu'à Jean Renoir ou Alfred Hitchcock. Le problème est de savoir si Bazin est ce grand théoricien qu'on a voulu faire de lui, s'il est réellement gigantesque. Ou bien si on a seulement réussi à faire croire qu'il l'était. Son influence, indiscutable, a-t-elle été bénéfique ? Pour qui ? Et sera-t-elle durable ? La qualité du sourire de l'homme, en effet, ne saurait être garante de l'importance de l'œuvre.
