Book Presentation:
Les Redneck movies représentent tout un pan du cinéma d'exploitation américain, très riche du milieu des années 1960 jusqu'au début des 1980. Lancé par 2 000 Maniacs , il triomphe avec Délivrance (1971) ou Massacre à la tronçonneuse (1974). Deux courants principaux se distinguent : le premier présente un univers violent de survie et de pauvreté, où tous les instincts les plus refoulés et brutaux émergent, avec des « tarés » en dehors des lois. L'autre tendance est moins sombre, avec des bons gars de la campagne un peu truands. L'ouvrage, richement illustré et enrichi d'entretiens, met les mains dans la boue pour découvrir à travers plus de cent films cette Amérique étrange, dégénérée.
