Lettre volée et esprit aérien du cinéma : tel se présente le cinéma d'animation. Afin de réveiller cette moderne fantasmagorie, des discours sont traversés : André Bazin et André Martin, Alexandre Alexeïeff et Norman Mc Laren, et des pratiques suscitées par des films : Who framed Roger Rabbit, "un intertexte américain", le conte des contes, "un palimpseste russe", Tango, "une répétition polonaise", et quelques autres. En eux, comme dans la pensée en acte du cinéma d'animation aura seulement laissé le cinéma se sous-venir.
