Alice Guy-Blaché est la première femme cinéaste au monde. Elle est aussi un des tout premiers metteurs en scène puisqu’elle a commencé à tourner dès 1896.
L’histoire du cinéma l’a pourtant longtemps négligée. Tout récemment des chercheurs ont enfin reconnu son rôle et sa place. Victor Bachy est de ceux-là et l’un des plus actifs.
I a voulu dans cet ouvrage présenter de façon exhaustive l’œuvre très abondante de cette réalisatrice : sa brillante carrière à la Gaumont, mais aussi son importante production américaine dans ses studios de New-York…
