Le public esthète, amateur éclairé de l art de Hayao Miyazaki ne sera pas déçu par ce Art of Totoro ! Crayonnés, dessins, peintures, storyboard en aquarelles, charadesign, toute la patte du maître s exprime de mille manières sur ces études de travail effectuées pour la préparation de la réalisation de Totoro. L ouvrage se dévore avec gourmandise tant Miyazaki a ouvert grand ses cartons à dessin et l on en vient une fois de plus à regretter que Miyazaki ne soit pas plus attiré par redevenir mangaka. À contempler encore et encore cette somme, on en viendrait à entendre le bruit du vent dans le feuillage touffu et verdoyant de la campagne nippone. Comme dans tous les Art Ghibli, l ouvrage se conclut ici par une série d interviews des membres du staff, et l on s attardera sur celle du grand Joe Hisashi, qui est à Miyazaki ce que Moriccone fut à Sergio Leone. Un art book aussi incontournable que le film lui-même !
