La notion d'énergie permet d'élaborer le concept de montage. Cette théorie inédite du montage peut être exportée au-delà du cinéma et stimuler les théoriciens d'autres arts mais aussi la littérature. Si l'originalité de cette idée tient à la méthodologie ayant pour guide René Thom (comment penser les sciences humaines à partir des sciences dures), elle est aussi fondée sur les écrits théoriques de cinéastes, théoriciens et philosophes (Walt Disney d'Eisenstein ; Le Pli de Deleuze, les écrits de Vertov lus à la lumière de ceux d'Epstein, etc.).
