" Les sketches des Frères Marx, tout à la fois écrits, improvisés, inénarrables, souvent intraduisibles, sont réunis ici pour la première fois, ceux de leurs films et ceux de leurs prestations au music-hall. Robert Benayoun n'a pas hésité à traduire leurs plus épouvantables calembours, ceux que les dialoguistes écrivaient pour Groucho, ceux qu'ils inventaient en impromptu sur scène et qui décourageaient les sous-titreurs.
