Cet ouvrage exceptionnel présente un ensemble de plus de 600 dessins créés depuis les années 1960 par le célèbre réalisateur américain David Lynch. Ils ont été dévoilés pour la première fois au public en 2007 par la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain. Esquisses, aquarelles ou simples croquis, ces dessins, soigneusement conservés par David Lynch depuis son adolescence et régulièrement utilisés comme source d'inspiration, offrent un aperçu unique du processus créatif de l artiste. David Lynch est également l'un des contributeurs majeurs de l'exposition Mathématiques, un dépaysement soudain qui est présentée du 21 octobre 2011 au 18 mars 2012 à la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain.
About the Author:
Né dans le Montana en 1946, David Lynch passe son enfance à dessiner et à peindre. En 1965, il part faire les Beaux-Arts à la Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts de Philadelphie où il se découvre une passion pour les images en mouvement et réalise son premier court-métrage expérimental. Réalisateur parmi les plus talentueux au monde, il a reçu en 2006 un Lion d'or pour l'ensemble de son œuvre. Tout au long de sa carrière, David Lynch n'a jamais cessé de peindre, de dessiner, de photographier et de créer des animations ; il a même élargi le champ de ses explorations artistiques à la composition musicale et à la création sonore.
