Hayao Miyazaki est aujourd’hui devenu la référence mondiale en matière de cinéma d’animation, en ayant su notamment imposer un type de découpage novateur, qui rapproche ses films du cinéma de prises de vues réelles ; une plus-value « réaliste » qui contribue à étendre significativement l’audience de son œuvre, jusqu’alors trop souvent cantonnée au ghetto des productions destinées au seul « jeune public ».
Pourtant, dès ses premiers films, Hayao Miyazaki développe un univers graphique et thématique aussi riche que complexe, qui se caractérise également par de nombreux décalages fantastiques, lesquels ouvrent à une dimension onirique ou symbolique d’une richesse foisonnante.
Ce volume (le premier en français) revient sur la totalité de son œuvre.
