Le cinéma américain tel qu'on le connaît depuis Le Parrain serait impossible à imaginer sans Al Pacino. Dans le rôle de Michael Corleone, il insuffle la vie à un personnage de dimension proprement épique. Qu'il incarne des hommes au caractère explosif (comme Tony Montana dans Scarface) ou dotés d'un calme et d'une ruse à toute épreuve (comme le journaliste de Révélations), c est son regard pénétrant qui en dit long. Comme le remarque un rival de Tony Montana : « Il n y a aucun faux-semblant en lui». C est également vrai pour Al Pacino. Bon ou mauvais, c est un homme sur lequel on peut toujours compter, une présence qu'il est impossible d'ignorer, un aimant qui capte irrésistiblement l'attention.
