Passé, présent, futur : le monde à travers l'œil de Kubrick La carrière exceptionnelle d'un génie du cinéma Stanley Kubrick (1928-1999) fait partie des cinéastes les plus brillants de toute l'histoire du cinéma, mais c'est aussi l'un des plus énigmatiques. Il fait irruption dans le monde du cinéma à 26 ans avec Le Baiser du tueur, un film ambitieux en production indépendante, et, en quelques années à peine, il se met à diriger des stars comme Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier et Peter Sellers sur des films cultes comme Lolita ou Spartacus. Grâce à ses premiers succès, Kubrick gagne le soutien des acteurs, des producteurs et des studios, ce qui lui permet d'acquérir cette liberté de création essentielle à la réalisation de chefs-d'œuvre sans concession comme 2001: L'Odyssée de l'espace, Orange mécanique ou Barry Lyndon. Il a tout juste le temps d'achever Eyes Wide Shut en 1999 avant de mourir prématurément. Kubrick laisse derrière lui uneœuvre cinématographique à la fois surprenante et géniale.
